Do you think we should have DLWOP days? That would would mean one less day of learning.  You might be thinking yay, and your parents might thinking boo. But, did you think about how you might have more work to do throughout the week? You might have more homework to do, and that would not be cool. DLWOP is directed leave without pay. We shouldnt have DLWOP because one less day of learning means more homework. It's also not fair to teachers. So think about it. Should we have DLWOP?

  1. No I dont think we should have DLWOP days! Our students need all the hours of school they can get. There are international schools who have longer school days and more school days than schools in the US. Those countries not only have the best scores in Reading and Math testing, but also have students who are successful in higher education. We need to put our students back into the classrooms so that they can make the most of their educational life. More days spent out of the classroom means more work done at home during off-hours.

  2. Wow. I totally agree with you Ethan! We shouldn't have DLWOP days. ANd your right that does mean extra homework to try to catch up with. DLWOP, DLWOP, DLWOP? Just the way it sounds. Direct Leave Without Pay. That sounds so much worse than Furlough. I like how you put that we would be loosing a days worth off work. Instead of just putting, "It's bad we don't have school", and not explain. So it's splendid that you explained. IT was also good that it was not to long and not to short. (I didn't Phase-Out) so it was great you only put in the important information. Great job, Ethan! :D

  3. YES!!! YES!!! YES!!!! We really should do away with DLWOP days and I'm very glad Ethan that you have brought this topic into discussion. I mean, of course it means one less day of school, and that a lot of kids may want that (not includng me), but with that extra work build up, they probabl will just dislike shcool even more (even though they shouldn't). Also, like you had said in the blog, teachers won't be getting paid, making it unfair to teachers. Isn't that what DLWOP means, direct leave without pay? They should at least get paid! Come on! They have to put up with us all week, and we all know that this is sometimes VERY agrivating work, but we should at least PAY THEM! Well this is just the basis of why DLWOP days are so terrible and why we shouldn't have them. Anyways, well worded Ethan and I liked how you included many facts to help your readers come up with a final decision. One thing that you could have added though that would (in my opininon) make it a bit better, would have been if you hd added an interviem from a teacher and their opinion on DLWOP days. Overall though, just a fantastic blg Ethan! :P (pretend it's smiling).

  4. Yes, we should do away with these nasty, time gobbling DLWOP days. The caring kind staff members and teachers that dedicate their precious, valuble time to teach what we need to know and help us with our lives. Andd, if we still have DLWOP days they should get payed.
